Cookie Policy

This page lists everything the Psychological Tests Online website stores on your device, and why. We keep it short because there is not much to list.

We do not track you

The website runs no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking or profiling, so it sets no analytics or advertising cookies. We do not sell or share data with data brokers, and nothing here follows you to other websites.

This page covers the website. The mobile apps show ads to users without a subscription; the Privacy Policy explains how that works.

What we store, and why

Your session. Google Firebase Authentication keeps your session in your browser's IndexedDB storage, in a database named firebaseLocalStorageDb, so you stay signed in between visits. This includes guest sessions: if you take assessments without an account, it holds the anonymous account that links you to your answers and results. Removing it signs you out and, if you are a guest, you can no longer reach your guest results.

Unfinished assessments. While you are taking an assessment, your answers so far are kept in this browser tab's session storage, under a key named ptol:progress: followed by the assessment's identifier, so that reloading the page or moving between questions does not lose them. The entry is removed when you finish the assessment, and your browser clears it when you close the tab.

Your guest consent. When, as a guest, you tick the consent box before your first result, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key ptol:guestConsent, so you are not asked again for every assessment.

Abuse protection. When abuse protection is active, Firebase App Check uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise, which stores data and sets cookies in your browser to tell genuine visitors from automated traffic. This is strictly necessary to keep the service secure.

Payment. If you buy on the website, the checkout is run by Stripe through its Link service, which acts as merchant of record for the purchase. Stripe sets its own cookies during that checkout step to process the payment securely, prevent fraud and, if you choose to save your details with Link, recognise you at later checkouts. They are not set anywhere else on the site, and they are not set if you do not buy.

How long it lasts

Your session lasts until you sign out or it expires. Unfinished assessments are removed when you finish or close the tab. Your guest consent stays until you clear your browser's site data. Google and Stripe decide how long their own cookies last. Apart from what reCAPTCHA sends to Google and what Stripe needs for your payment, none of it is shared with anyone else.

Managing it

You can clear this storage at any time through your browser settings, and you can block it entirely, though the service will not be able to keep you signed in if you do.

Everything listed is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for or to keep it secure, so we do not ask for consent to store it and there is no cookie banner. If we ever add analytics or anything that is not strictly necessary, we will ask first and update this page.

Changes

If what we store changes, this page changes with it, and the date below is updated.
